In my dream sitting with Dean at "La Famiglia," Sinatra's lyrics were spinning through my head, "As the end draws near!" The restaurant was almost empty that September night in 1995. Dean spoke about a life of love, loss, and hard choices, determined to face his final curtain on his own terms.The stories came easier once Dean started talking about the old NBC days. One memory opened another, and before long La Famiglia seemed less like a nearly empty Beverly Hills restaurant and more like somebody had thrown open every backstage door at Studio 4. and I was standing next to a legend. "Let's have a Vino for Dino."
