Dean and Tony. My last season working on the Dean Martin Show Tony Bennet was one of the guest stars. Two legends. Back as a kid growing up in Chicago, everywhere we drove my dad would sing Tony Bennett songs. "Because of You '' was his favorite. It's 1968 before getting promoted to NBC and KNBC News Production, I witnessed an historic event. My two childhood idols, Martin and Bennett, join together for a Sunday afternoon taping. Standing next to Tony before he was introduced was a thrill. Then the magic began when Tony and Dean "ad libbed" and sang together. Tony's 97th birthday was right around the corner.
